YOGA FOR HEALTH

This weekly series of classes draws on the wisdom of Yoga, while providing you with guidance in stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as strategies to promote relaxation. The sessions are designed to help enhance your body awareness. They are also intended to provide support toward maintaining therapeutic gains for those who have been involved in an individual therapy program. The small class size is tailored toward beginners and intermediate students to allow for individual attention, when needed. Individual sessions available upon request. NUTRITIONAL SOLUTIONS

INNER CALM: STRESS MANAGEMENT

Inner Calm is a program designed to provide you with tools to develop awareness and skills to empower you in managing the stress of everyday life. In this course, you will learn important aspects of the physiology of stress and gain an appreciation for how biofeedback can help you harness the mind-body connection for better health and well-being. There will be opportunities to learn and practice a number of strategies to support inner peace, including mindfulness meditation, deep breathing and supportive self-talk, and they are practical so that you can fit them into even the busiest day.

COMMUNITY AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE CLINIC (APPA)

In a quiet, comfortable and relaxing environment, this weekly clinic allows individuals to explore auricular (ear) acupuncture to help reduce pain and anxiety. The Auricular Protocol for Pain and Anxiety (APPA) was developed by consensus of auricular acupuncturists from around the world. It has been found to be helpful for those dealing with acute and chronic pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia and depression. It is also of value to individuals simply seeking to experience a deep sense of relaxation, and enhanced well-being. Based on the concept that our ears are a microsystem of the entire body, the procedure focuses on five points of the outer ear. Acupuncture needles are placed strategically on these five points. All you have to do is sit and relax while the needles do their work. To conduct as a small group setting, the number of participants for the clinic will be limited

BONES For LIFE®

Help strengthen and restore bone mass naturally. Bones for Life® is a movement program designed to address the deterioration of bone tissue through gentle, safe movement exploration, and especially helpful for those dealing with osteoporosis/osteopenia. We will approach a number of movement tasks using mindful exploration, pressure, rhythm and vibration. Increasing both flexibility and stability, and improving the transmission of pressure from feet to head promotes the regeneration of bone tissue. Anyone wishing to strengthen their bone structure and improve the efficiency of daily movement is appropriate for this class. Participants do need to be able to get up and down from the floor.

TRAGER® MENTASTICS – MIND/BODY RELAXATION

Day: Second & Fourth Friday of each month

Remember what it was like to feel good? Come join us for an entertaining, no stress hour as we explore Trager® Mentastics. These simple pleasurable movements will re-teach your body and mind to let go of tension. Mentastic 'moves' are not only practical because they are so easy and effective, but they are such fun that they will have you smiling inside and out. Attending just one class can give you plenty of ideas for adding comfort to your day. But you are welcome to come as often as you'd like!

FELDENKRAIS® – AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT
Facilitator: Joy Shelnutt, PT, GCFP
Day: First Wednesday of each month
Time: 5:00-6:00 PM

The Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement (ATM) Class teaches you how to become aware of the way you move your body. It gives you choices about how to change habitual movement and posture for improved function. Some of the benefits of attending the ATM class are increased flexibility and agility and reduced tension and pain. People also gravitate to the ATM class to enhanced physical skill levels and improved their overall quality of life.
