Dry needling

is a technique used by licensed healthcare practitioners to eliminate trigger points (muscle knots) that can cause pain, weakness and poor mobility. Dry needling typically requires the use of a very thin sterile needle, such as is used in acupuncture. The needle is inserted into the trigger point leading to an immediate ‘release’ of the trigger point. This deactivation can bring prompt relief and allow the treating therapist to employee additional strategies to support improved range of motion and reduced discomfort. Some of the many conditions that respond well to dry needling include headaches, TMJ, neck, shoulder and back pain, bulging disc, sciatica and tennis elbow.
